WILLIAM DANIELS - In this workshop, we will discuss the importance of project planning in our art practice. Specifically, we will consider the importance of crafting a work plan and design statement to keep your project on message and in spec as you work through your process using my simple, but effective template and project management principles.
We will explore the relationship between art and philosophy, including the role of artists and art in society, and the aesthetic discourse. In addition, we will discuss the aura of a work of art and the various ways we manipulate the space in between the viewer and your masterpiece.
We will delve into color theory and the importance of writing a color story to augment our design statement. We will examine the meanings of colors, the energy they generate and how these combine to strengthen or undermine the intention of your project. We will analyze one of our own projects against works of professional artists who masterfully use color theory, and others, who like many of us, are still struggling with color in our work. We will engage in a variety of collaborative exercises designed to facilitate the incorporation of business methods into our creative practice.
Finally, we will cover the basics of creating individual works that speak to curatorial
themes for group exhibitions and how we prepare complete, concise, compelling
submission packages.
NOTE: The cost of this class represents a very deep discount on Will’s signature professional development presentation. Don’t miss this opportunity!
