The Women’s Arts Collective presents a HAND QUILTING WORKSHOP

Learn Hand Quilting with the Women's Art Collective! In this exciting workshop you will learn the basics of hand quilting! Whether you have never quilted at all or need helpful hints to improve your hand quilting, this class is for you. Instructors Carolyn Davis and Glendora Simonson, co-founders of the Nubian Heritage Quilters Guild, will teach 4 blocks: two blocks are applique and two are piecing.

Glendora holds the distinction of being the only quilting teacher I’ve ever had.  I still remember her tapping my knuckles with a ruler (Catholic school style) whenever I felt the impulse to back-tack at the end of a quilt block seam, a holdover habit from garment sewing.  I have since forgiven her  ; )  but then again, maybe that’s why I haven’t taken another quilting class since then…   Anyway, we all go “way back” and I know you’ll learn a lot and have a great time, so here are the workshop details:

Pictured here is Glendora’s Siddi-inspired hand quilted wall hanging.  I love everything about it – color, composition, quilting, and of course, that tree branch hanger is sooo Cultured Expressions!
