Ghana 2012, By Way of London

Cultured Expressions - maasai cloth BrixtonJust 12 months to go before Cultured Expressions’ SewJourn to Ghana in October 2013!  (Remember, deposits of $500 paid before December 31 save you $200 on the price of the tour!!  That’s $200 more to spend in the markets…)   I’m here in Ghana now, combining preparations for the SewJourn with my usual buying trip.  Coming to Ghana via London this time gave me a chance to checkout the shopportunities there, too.  A visit to London’s Brixton area turned up my first Kenyan acquisition, a gorgeous piece of Maasai cloth purchased from a Ugandan entrepreneur. I’m usually not one for red-with-purple combinations, but this piece was speaking to me in no uncertain terms  ; )

Plus, there were 3 fabric stores in walking distance from the Hilton Paddington, and one of them provided a Fabrigasmic episode in the form of African prints on display at Hadson Fabrics…Cultured expressions - Hadson Fabrics London

I almost succumbed to the temptation to buy, but knowing that Ghana was only a couple of days away, I resisted…and hit the ground running on Monday
